Building Healthier Lives and Brighter Futures

ACIDD is a social enterprise with a social mission. ACIDD in Maryland provides mental health services and Intellectual Disability services to persons with ID and co-occurring mental illness. ACIDD takes an integrated care approach to support these individuals in the community.

As a mental health provider, ACIDD in Maryland focuses on various services to address mental health issues. Our services include the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP), Mental Health Vocational Program (MHVP) aka Employment services (SE), psychotherapy, and most recently – an Integrated virtual Health Services system. PRP has been temporarily suspended due to the pandemic and will be revived in 2023.

ACIDD supports youth above 18 years and who are behaviorally challenged, for a period of 3 years until they turn 21. Besides providing residential services and support services, these youths attend school. They would learn community skills that make them socially responsible adults when they become adults. ACIDD prefers that they find independent living and be supported by another DDA provider when they turn 21.

As a licensed provider under the Maryland State Department of Health, ACIDD in Maryland is capable of providing developmental disability services. ACIDD prefers to support high-functioning, dually diagnosed individuals in our residential homes and day services. However, it chooses to be selective in our services in 2023 as part of its strategic plan and growth in services. ACIDD in Maryland also provides Personal Support services to those in need, medically fragile as well as behaviorally challenged, in their homes.

Our Mission Statement

To embrace, empower, and help promote the mental health and well-being of people with severe mental illness and promote independence to individuals who have a dual diagnosis of intellectual disabilities and mental disorders.

Our Vision Statement

To make every effort to honor our commitment to provide mental health services and support individuals with mild to moderate Intellectual Disabilities who also have co-occurring Mental Illnesses to live a healthy life and wellness, to be free of stigma, gain employment and sustain it, and to live independently and freely with determination, dreams, and aspirations. We endeavor to embrace all people with mental illness and intellectual disability and empower them “one person at a time, one country at a time.

ACIDD in Maryland takes an integrated care approach that is positive and cost-saving to all Marylanders. Our experience in the past has resulted in opening our new Integrated Heath Services Center. It also enables us with a neo-approach of clinical treatment to individuals with dually diagnosed individuals. Achieving high-quality, individualized treatment of all people who are affected by persistent mental disorders has the potential outcome of social inclusion, independence, protection of rights, equality, and self-worth.

Our core principle is universal well-being.
We envision our future that is based on the above guiding principle. We strive to establish the personal health status of all our individuals in Maryland within a framework of a balanced socio-economic and cultural environment. Through AWAIYR, formerly known as ACIDD, we recognize the strengths and needs of millions of people with disabilities in the world. We draw ongoing inspiration from our organization.

Our commitment to people and our passion to work with them allows us to be free for innovative ways of change. We are determined to do so. We are an equal opportunity provider that lends its hands to all individuals of different statuses, ages, colors, and disabilities.
